Elisa Prepaid Team

Working as a designer of multi-vendor client team in charge of prepaid business. Responsible of overall user experience, design, and accessibility across Elisa's prepaid services, covering both the website and the application. Contributing on the creation of client's application component library with the developers

Elisa Prepaid Team

Elisa prepaid team has multiple products that I have been taking care of. The two most important physical thing is the prepaid sim card box, that is sold in brick and mortar stores, kiosks and k-ryhmä and s-ryhmä stores across finland and estonia. Elisa prepaid is a market leader, but the web service used for recharge and top-up of the prepaid card was dated, and they didn’t have an application for recharging the prepaid.

I joined the prepaid project when the process of renewing the website was just completed but the app wasn’t yet out, helping the business and team in asset creation and feature concepting, making sure the UX and UI was polished and that the visual design would be aligned throughout the service.

My main tasks in the team revolve around transforming the business requirements into application or web service views, create views and design assets to the developers. In prepaid team projects, usability and accessibility is in the center.

Building with AI tools

We utilize modern tooling, AI assisted design and development and work in iterative way, utilizing scrum practices and rituals. I have tried to bring the design process as close to the development as possible, and have found it now possible to leverage LLM tools to assist me in auditing created components, trying to close the gap between design and development. The telco business is really competive in Finland, and the we need to constantly push for new features to keep the sales edge against the other big players of industry.

Pivoting from web to the application

The prepaid business is in constant flux, and as the designer, the biggest issue in designing is the fact we really dont know the users of our services, as the prepaid business doesn’t require users to identify for the service to be used. Through guiding the user into the application side, this can be migitated, as the it is much easier to ask feedback and request information from the application users. We are planning to feature application only features, and to make requesting feedback easier through the app.

My work is split between the app and the web service, constantly keeping the features updated, helping with marketing and sales efforts while assisting the developers. We push new features out steadily, and hope to launch a new services with a travel angle out in near future.
